Identifying missing roads in Openstreetmap using JOSM

Open JOSM
Activate the Maxar layer, Strava and Locator overlay.

The layers will look like this:

Rather than using the Locator overlay layer I prefer to download some roads within a desired area like a city or state and style it with black to make it easier to identify the missing roads with the overlay.
To do this, activate the expert mode to download data using overpass window.

Find out the id of the relation of the desired area, open download window (Ctrl+Shift+down) to download using overpass and add 3600000000 as in the figure.

Also download the relation of this area in the download objects window (Ctrl+Shift+O).

Use the following styles to improve the visualization.

And filter the elements with the following filters to improve it even further:
